The BioXtra Spray is a quick and convenient immediate solution for a dry mouth.
It is really so very important to prevent a dry mouth, which can lead to tooth decay and gum disease! Unfortunately, CPAP and non-invasive ventilation therapy can exacerbate a dry mouth and especially when other medication has to be taken which also has dry mouth as a side effect.
Despite the use of a CPAP or Ventilator Humidifier, some mask users still continue to suffer from the unpleasant issue of a dry mouth, which can also cause interrupted sleep and sometimes unnecessary bathroom trips, as people often have to turn to drinking water during the night to try to ease this problem. Even more importantly, is the fact that a dry mouth can lead to tooth decay and gum disease, which is why it's so important to prevent this.
The air from the CPAP or Ventilator can cause dry mouth problems, but also bear in mind that a lot of medications people need to take for various medical conditions are also responsible - as are certain medical conditions themselves, like Sjögren's Syndrome and Diabetes etc., so the air pressure in the mask tends to exacerbate this.
Based on feedback from people who are looking to get relief from dry mouth specifically during the night, we would always first recommend trying the XyliMelts Discs which gradually dissolve during the night so the effects in most cases remain for longer than other gels or creams. However, this BioXtra Dry Mouth Spray, the BioXtra Gel or the Biotène Gel are certainly good alternative solutions for people finding using the discs difficult or even for topping up quickly when the XyliMelts have dissolved.
This spray is particularly useful as a top-up without interfering too much with full removal of the CPAP mask, and also handy for people wearing face coverings during the day, which can also lead to a dry mouth when needed for long periods of use, to quickly spray into the mouth.
BioXtra Dry Mouth Gel Spray gently supplements natural saliva by regulating the micro-environment of the mouth. The formulation quickly and effectively moisturises, soothes and eases oral discomfort of Dry Mouth (Xerostomia).
BioXtra Dry Mouth Gel Spray helps strengthen enamel and fight against the formation of dental caries, whilst promoting fresh breath and comfortable gums.
For convenience and immediate moisturisation during the day, spray directly into the mouth as often as required.
The BioXtra Dry Mouth Gel Spray contains 50 ml of liquid and a little goes a long way.

This is pleasant and easy to use but for me personally it is not long lasting enough to keep my mouth from drying out overnight. I prefer the Xylimelts.

Response:
We agree Ellen and definitely recommend the XyliMelts for longer relief from dry mouth, but glad the spray is helping a little. Handy for a little top up when needed.
I tried this during the day as I also have a lung condition and on oxygen it does what it says for dry mouth but I am not to keen on the taste. Did try it at night-time but obviously it doesn't last the whole night so it is back to my XyliMelts. Worth a try though.
Always worth a try Georgena like you say, and is a good option for people who don't get on with the XyliMelts, but wherever possible, the XyliMelts are definitely the best product for dry mouth.
I normally start with a mouth moisturise spray then I put in the gel and try and rub it around with my tongue so it lasts all night.I'm very pleased with the spray but I'm still on finishing my biotene gel so haven't tried that yet. I'm hoping if the spray is anything to go by it will be very effective and taste minty. I'd certainly recommend the spray and cost from the website and everything I've bought is sent very quickly. Thank you very much.
You're very welcome and think you'll find the spray good for a quick top up if needed. Handy for during the day too in face coverings 🙂
I found it hard to direct the spray to the gum area and it didn't last very long. I found the gel better
I use XyliMelts every night and they're excellent but...I still ended up with such painful, split lips with purply, dark red blisters because my mouth was so dried out that my teeth were sticking to the inside of my lips. My tongue was always stuck to the roof of my mouth and It is hard to relate just how painful my whole mouth was. So I thought I'd give the spray a try - and I'm SO glad I did! It is absolutely amazing...and that's no exaggeration! The taste is pleasant, and quite sweet and it eases the problem almost immediately. It only takes a small amount on my finger to rub on the inside of both my lips and then one or two short scorpion my tongue and top throat area
Glad you've found the spray helpful in addition to the XyliMelts 😊
Shipping
We try our best to ship all orders received by us Monday-Friday on the same working day if received before 12 noon, and more often than not orders processed before 3pm will be despatched the same day whenever possible. Weekend or UK bank holiday orders are sent out the next working day. An automated email is sent when products have been despatched so please check your spam box and add us to your safe senders list. Also, if you do not receive an email confirmation, please check that you have typed the correct email address in your account.
All orders are sent via 1st class mail within the UK. Masks and some other more expensive products are always sent via 'signed for' insured delivery and cannot be left in 'safe' places, but there is the option for an alternative shipping address when processing the orders.
Delivery charges are worked out automatically by weight and you can clearly see the delivery charges before making a payment. On the rare occasion delivery charges are miscalculated by the website, a refund will be sent, as it is not our policy to make money on postage charges and neither do we add the cost of delivery into the price and offer so-called 'free delivery' like some sites and Ebay pressurise sellers to do!
Wherever possible with larger parcels, we try to re-use boxes to keep shipping costs down and protect the environment.
If a product is out of stock and the order contains multiple items, the 'in stock' items will be sent immediately and further items will follow upon arrival with no further postage charges incurred.
Important for International Orders
We can ship most products internationally, but all prices are in UK British Pounds and if paying by debit or credit card the bank will automatically convert to the current conversation rate. Likewise, if you choose the Paypal option, they will convert into your currency for you as payment is made.
International orders are sent via tracked Airmail, and whilst we're happy to ship internationally, we cannot be held responsible for any delays at Customs at your end, or charges that may be added in your own country, such as customs fees and import tax on delivery, which are determined by your country’s import laws and are beyond our control. Therefore, it is the customer’s responsibility to pay these charges, and certain courier companies will not be able to deliver the goods to you without pre-payment of any charges. From our experience, it appears to be randomised as to which parcels incur extra charges, but please know that all accompanying paperwork is filled in correctly when shipping and there is nothing more we can do, as much as we'd like to.If you purchase from us out of the UK or you move to another country after purchasing products, please be aware that the warranty for CPAP machines, masks and parts from the manufacturers are under warranty with the manufacturer based in the UK, so you will be responsible for sending the product back to us and will need to pay postage to get the product back to you after exchange or repair, as the manufacturer will not pay for shipping in any country outside of the UK.
Masks, CPAP machines and and most other products are exempt from a refund or exchange unless faulty due to health and hygiene issues - as stated in our 'Terms and Conditions', and in particular due to the risk of cross contamination as they cannot be re-sold. The Consumer Contracts Regulations 28.(3)(a) confirms exemption as follows:- "exemption in the case of a contract for the supply of sealed goods which are not suitable for return due to health protection or hygiene reasons, if they become unsealed after delivery."
Unopened (sealed) products in their original packing can be returned within 14 days for a refund of the product cost, but the purchaser is to pay the return postage, and we would advise retaining proof of postage. This excludes any faulty goods, for which postage will be reimbursed. A full refund for the price of the product will be issued when received by us, less the original postage charges when the order was sent to you.
