These Oxygen Enrichment Adapters are for people needing additional oxygen to be used with their CPAP, BiPAP or Non-invasive Ventilators. Whilst many patients don't require oxygen regularly, after surgery oxygen is often necessary, so these allow the oxygen tube to be fed through (bled into) the CPAP or ventilator hose to flow through the mask.
This Oxygen Enrichment Adapter is universal, as it will fit all oxygen tubes and all standard CPAP and ventilator hoses, as almost all have a 22 mm cuff - even most of the slimmer hoses.
If you are using a heated hose the adapter may not fit at the machine end of the hose - in which case it can be placed between the mask and hose.
Some masks do have an oxygen port, so if this is the case, oxygen can be bled straight into the mask, but when using a mask without this feature, an oxygen enrichment adapter will be required.
Whilst most people do not require oxygen regularly, after surgery it is very common to need oxygen (even for people without a sleep disordered breathing condition). For people with obstructive sleep apnoea and other sleep disordered breathing conditions, if the airways don't remain open then a lot of the oxygen won't get through, so it is important to use both CPAP or non-invasive ventilators and oxygen at the same time. In fact many people like to carry one of these adapters in their CPAP or non-invasive ventilator bag for any sudden emergencies.
The adapter can be placed between the mask and hose or where instructed by the hospital so that the oxygen tube can be fed through the small port, which also has a cap so that oxygen can be sealed off when not in use.
Below is an image of the Oxygen Enrichment Adapter fitted to a Lowenstein Prisma machine, but it is the same principle for other machines:-
Bought this to go in the travel bag for nights away, in case I get hospitalised and need oxygen.

What a natty piece of kit after problems in hospital. I've decided to invest in an Adapter I'm sure someone will be able to push the Oxygen on to the small unit. Well I live in hope 😊
Response:
Sorry to hear you had problems in hospital, and at least if we have one of these in our CPAP bag it makes everything easier when oxygen is needed.
No issues
Didn’t even know about the advisability of having the Adapter until reading a really useful post from Hope2Sleep. I’ve been a regular customer and recipient of their posts for almost a decade and, without fail, my orders have been dealt with efficiently and quickly. Furthermore, packages always arrive in one piece, despite the best efforts of delivery companies these days.To date, cannot praise them highly enough.
Aw thanks for your kind comments Richard 😊
I received your last newsletter and your story about Kath's Dad, and I was absolutely floored. I couldn't believe what I was reading! You see, 2 years ago I had my gallbladder removed after I'd had NASH and jaundice and had to be in ICU because of my poor oxygen levels. I was given extra oxygen for some time in the night, and woke with an orange tube squeezed under my CPAP mask blowing in oxygen-and my mask was of course whistling away because of the air leak! So we got through that one and in time, I improved. Then on the morning of 2nd September 2024, I had a stent implanted between my R kidney and my bladder. I also had several other things done at the same time so I was asleep for quite a while. The thing was that I was like an idiot when I was trying to come round, and I just couldn't shake off the anaesthetic all day. There was great concern about my oxygen levels and when they gave me 3 bars of oxygen through a nose tube, the levels went up. When it was turned down, my oxygen levels fell dramatically. I couldn't speak, or think, and I couldn't stand up without falling over. I was so confused and even the next day I couldn't clear my head. I was being kept there because of my poor oxygen levels and couldn't be let home. I'd had no mask on all this time and when I did get home, I was so agitated for weeks. I couldn't sleep because I felt so stressed, and my normally easy going demeanor was replaced by a maniac. I could hear myself shrieking at my poor husband from inside me, and it took weeks to settle. My confidence had been badly knocked, and still is......and then I read your newsletter and it was like a bolt from the blue! I immediately understood what had happened. I immediately knew WHY things had gone the way they did! But no-one in the hospital knew. Not one of them - not the nurses, not the surgeons, and not even the anaesthetist! That was my 11th operation and general anaesthetic and I've been told that I am in grave risk if I have to have another one. But I DO have to have another one! Around February, I have to have the stent (f.y.i. 30cms long) removed and another one inserted. It's won't be a general anaesthetic, but enough to sedate me. And I'm frightened. It's been a terrible time, and I am one strong lady, but every 6 months it's got to be changed. So I have my own adapter now and I am going to print out your information, and I am going to make sure it is read by the staff first. The hospital teams do a fantastic job and I am forever grateful, but this is stuff they should know. SOMEBODY should know! I truly am so grateful to you for that article. Now I know that I wasn't going mad, that it did happen like that.

Bless you Barbara and I'm so glad you saw the newsletter article and that you now realise what the problem was, as when oxygen is needed in hospital for a patient with sleep apnoea, it's very important that the CPAP is used as well to allow the oxygen to get through a close airway. I hope this now gives you confidence in that you can advocate for safe care whilst in hospital, and with the correct care all will be fine 😊
Bought this after seeing the Hope2Sleep Webinar #7 “General Anaesthetics In Patients With Sleep Apnoea” - essential tool to enable oxygen AND CPAP to be administered together - worked a treat but you need to be prepared to coach nursing staff how to use it!
So pleased to hear you've already had the benefit of the oxygen adapter which makes everything simpler. It would be better still if they were easily available in the hospitals, but at least us having one in our bag means they don't have to spend ages allocating one from another department.
excellent and very useful product
Good to have for emergency.
Good to have for an emergency so can't evaluate really.
I bought 2 oxygen adapters 1 for my daughter who's waiting for double hip replacement surgery, and one for myself as I have c.o.p.d. along side sleep apnoea. These were bought in case we ever need them.

Shipping
We try our best to ship all orders received by us Monday-Friday on the same working day if received before 12 noon, and more often than not orders processed before 3pm will be despatched the same day whenever possible. Weekend or UK bank holiday orders are sent out the within the next two working days when possible. An automated email is sent when products have been despatched so please check your spam box and add us to your safe senders list. Also, if you do not receive an email confirmation, please check that you have typed the correct email address in your account.
All orders are sent via 1st class mail within the UK. Masks and some other more expensive products are always sent via 'signed for' insured delivery and cannot be left in 'safe' places, but there is the option for an alternative shipping address when processing the orders.
Delivery charges are worked out automatically by weight and you can clearly see the delivery charges before making a payment. On the rare occasion delivery charges are miscalculated by the website, a refund will be sent, as it is not our policy to make money on postage charges and neither do we add the cost of delivery into the price and offer so-called 'free delivery' like some sites and Ebay pressurise sellers to do!
Wherever possible with larger parcels, we try to re-use boxes to keep shipping costs down and protect the environment.
If a product is out of stock and the order contains multiple items, the 'in stock' items will be sent immediately and further items will follow upon arrival with no further postage charges incurred.
Important for International Orders
We can ship most products internationally, but all prices are in UK British Pounds and if paying by debit or credit card the bank will automatically convert to the current conversation rate. Likewise, if you choose the Paypal option, they will convert into your currency for you as payment is made.
International orders are sent via tracked Airmail, and whilst we're happy to ship internationally, we cannot be held responsible for any delays at Customs at your end, or charges that may be added in your own country, such as customs fees and import tax on delivery, which are determined by your country’s import laws and are beyond our control. Therefore, it is the customer’s responsibility to pay these charges, and certain courier companies will not be able to deliver the goods to you without pre-payment of any charges. From our experience, it appears to be randomised as to which parcels incur extra charges, but please know that all accompanying paperwork is filled in correctly when shipping and there is nothing more we can do, as much as we'd like to.If you purchase from us out of the UK or you move to another country after purchasing products, please be aware that the warranty for CPAP machines, masks and parts from the manufacturers are under warranty with the manufacturer based in the UK, so you will be responsible for sending the product back to us and will need to pay postage to get the product back to you after exchange or repair, as the manufacturer will not pay for shipping in any country outside of the UK.
Masks, CPAP machines and and most other products are exempt from a refund or exchange unless faulty due to health and hygiene issues - as stated in our 'Terms and Conditions', and in particular due to the risk of cross contamination as they cannot be re-sold. The Consumer Contracts Regulations 28.(3)(a) confirms exemption as follows:- "exemption in the case of a contract for the supply of sealed goods which are not suitable for return due to health protection or hygiene reasons, if they become unsealed after delivery."
Unopened (sealed) products in their original packing can be returned within 14 days for a refund of the product cost, but the purchaser is to pay the return postage, and we would advise retaining proof of postage. This excludes any faulty goods, for which postage will be reimbursed. A full refund for the price of the product will be issued when received by us, less the original postage charges when the order was sent to you.
